Part 3 here we go. As with most blogs, the regularity you hope for rarely pans out. But here it is– 360: Post Production.
We left a lot of unanswered questions for post to figure out. Every day there felt like a new hurdle to jump. From processing power and previewing to creative decisions and viewer predictions, post production was rife with learning. I won’t bore you with the technical 411 but rather bring you into our thoughts and theory behind what we did on the editing floor.Read More
Would you eat fish head curry? You should. It's actually extremely tasty. They bring out this huge bowl of red curry with a massive fish head right on top and it is delicious. That was one of the many pleasant surprises we had on the island of Penang. The culture was so rich, the people so kind, the food ridiculously good and the vistas we're stunning. These are the hidden gems in travel that no one really talks about but blows you away when the wind happens to blow you that direction.
This blog is the one that will most likely outdate itself quickest. Camera technology is moving at lightning speed and with the holiday's approaching, I'm sure new cameras will be pouring out of the wazoo, more people will buy them, and new techniques will quickly be established. How do you shoot 360 content? This is the question that my team and I spent most of our time answering before we set out to shoot the campaign.Read More
There's this commercial we saw while in the Philippines which claimed that everything was better in the Philippines. It didn't take long for us to see that there is so much truth to that! Above all else, it is the most hospitable country I've ever been to. It has possibly the most beautiful, expansive sunset I've ever seen and this amazing dish that I later learned was pig face. That aside, here's a taste of our 360 stop in Manila.
I don’t think there’s a day that goes by anymore that I don’t hear the words “Virtual Reality”. Perhaps that’s because of my google alert that sends me the latest trends in VR every day at 10:26am but also because “they” were right…this is the year of VR…or AR…or AI….or 360 video, whatever you want to talk about.Read More
I never have been excited about going to Sydney. I carried this assumption that it was one of THE tourist destinations and overly commercialized. I was VERY wrong. The city is awesome. As the first stop on our 360 tour, it set an amazing tone for the rest of the trip. The weather, the beaches, the food, and the people were just fantastic. We were lucky enough to visit during VIVID which is Sydney's yearly light festival. They had these massive projects that turned famous buildings, like the Opera House, into works of art. Also, everyone is constantly working out in Sydney– no matter what time of day. I've decided it's where I'm going to train for the 2020 Olympics. I think I'll try and win gold in Equestrian Dressage.
This May, my family and I had the opportunity to follow Frodo on his journey to destroy the ring of power. Actually, I think we traveled farther than he and we had two SUV's so it took much less time. However, enjoy this small cross section of places we traversed from Auckland to Hobbiton to Taupo to Wellington to Te Anau to Queenstown and back again. Enjoy :)
Last September, my wife and I had the pleasure of taking a two week vacation to Europe. We had an incredible time, ate the best food I've ever had and experienced some insane wonders. These snapshots barely scratch the surface of what it was like actually standing in La Sagrada Familia or watching a sunset on Santorini or exploring the grottos of Quinta da Regaleira but hopefully it's a taste. Enjoy! (Photos from Barcelona, Mykonos, Santorini, Athens, and Lisbon)Read More
Lauren & Peter had one of the most beautiful weddings we've ever been able to shoot. The whole day we kept wondering when the awesomeness would end but it only got better. Check out the film and a few snaps we snuck along the way. Congratulations Lauren and Peter!Read More
In May, my crew and I had the honor of capturing Mandy & Joe's wedding. It was an absolute joy and the only word I could use to describe it would be the "Hardy Pardy" for it was a party indeed. Take a look at our video as well as a few photo selections from the day. Cheers!Read More
Two months ago, I had the privilege of capturing some snaps of Mandy & Joe who are getting married in a little over a week! My team and I are incredibly excited to capture their wedding day and we wish you both the very best!Read More
Well I have a new favorite day of the year. This one takes the cake from Christmas, the First Day of Spring, the Day the Cardinals win the World Series and Arbor Day combined. On March 8th, I got to marry my closest friend. It was one of those days that just turns out better than you could have ever daydreamed. It's hard to even write words about it, soo instead of trying to verbally describe it, I wanted to share some photos and thank our good God in Heaven as well as all the people who have been part of our story. We love you all so much.Read More
Several weeks ago, Blake and I had the opportunity to capture Zach & Susanna's wedding day in both stills and video. The full day event was fantastic– beautiful and a crazy amount of fun. Tackling a wedding in New York posed new sets of challenges and aesthetic hurdles that were a blast to overcome. Check out the video and some of my favorite images!Read More
So I just watched Taylor's most recent music video venture and it was...interesting. A myriad of blogs could be written about Taylor's recent activities from the album release and removal of all tracks from Spotify to her change of style and recent appointment as the Ambassador to New York. I won't go there. Rather, I'd like to focus on 7 things we learned about Taylor from her new video: "Blank Space"Read More
This last weekend, a car-full of my wonderful friends headed upstate for a classic fall tradition...apple picking. Unfortunately, after we arrived, we learned that it has been a bad year for apples and we'd missed the peak window. The result: No more apples on the trees! Thankfully, they'd collected all the apples they could in these large bins. So we effectively changed our adventure from Apple Picking to Apple Choosing. Enjoy the clicks!Read More
In the past month, my fiancé and I had the opportunity to travel and see some incredible sites on the west coast. It all began with a trip to Arizona and two weeks later we began a road trip that started in Seattle and ended in San Diego. We drove down the Pacific Coast Highway, stopping off in Portland, Crater Lakes, the Redwoods, San Fransisco, Pismo beach, Big Sur, Santa Barbra & Los Angeles. Everyone should take this trip once in their lifetime. I didn't take all that many photos primarily because it was uncapturable but also because it's nice to put the lens down and enjoy the person by your side. Here's a taste of what we saw.Read More
Last weekend I had the privilege of spending some time with Zach and Susanna all over New York taking some great photos and having a wonderful time. I'll be doing their wedding in October as well and it's such a blessing to have even a little taste of the happiness they're experiencing. Here's to you!Read More
2 weeks ago I had to privilege of shooting the wedding of a good friend of mine. My buddy Blake and I were tasked with creating the video (which is currently in progress). Throughout the day, I did sneak a few snaps here and there. Thanks again, Rachel and Johnny, for allowing me to be part of your incredibly beautiful and all around awesome day.Read More
A camera lens and your eye are quite similar. The way they open, interpret light and manage colors. I think though, that my eyes are more like a lens than your average person. You see, I perceive the world in camera angles. This of course is a side effect of my career as a photographer but not necessarily a detrimental one. It’s simply how I see. As I walk I’ll place a camera in my mind, allow my eyes to become the aperture and immortalize the scene as pixels in my head.Read More
